Nusantara is planned as nine development zones, each with its own role, from government and finance to energy, education and food. The Construction Map currently shows mostly the core government area, but all nine are part of the plan.
The heart of the capital and the seat of national government. It holds the Presidential Palace, ministries and agencies, the diplomatic quarter, defense and security facilities, and housing for state officials.
Planned as Nusantara's economic engine, a financial and business district for banks, company offices, trade and services. It is the largest of the nine zones.
Set aside for renewable energy, supporting the plan for a capital that runs on clean power.
Tourism, entertainment, recreation and sports, giving residents and visitors places to spend their free time.
Focused on education, with room for universities and campuses alongside supporting services. It is the smallest zone inside the Nusantara Area.
A hub for research, innovation and technology development, with room for research institutes and tech companies.
Outside the city itself, near the Balikpapan–Samarinda toll road. Planned around commodities, trade and logistics.
Planned for agro-industry: processing crops and farm produce into higher-value products for the region.
On the coast near the Mahakam delta, combining fisheries and agriculture with public services for the surrounding communities.
Zones 1 to 6 together make up the Nusantara Area (K-IKN), the capital city itself. Zones 7 to 9 lie in the much larger surrounding Development Area (KP-IKN), which links the capital to Balikpapan, Samarinda and the coast.
