Plaza Bhinneka Tunggal Ika is a public space in the heart of Nusantara (IKN), East Kalimantan. This square is located in front of the IKN Authority Building and is part of the National Axis, which connects several important elements in the city's spatial planning. This area is also known as the location of Nusantara Zero Point, which marks the geographical center of Indonesia's new capital.
Design and Architecture
The design of Plaza Bhinneka Tunggal Ika was developed by architectural firm Urban+, which is also responsible for the masterplan of IKN. The design concept of this square emphasizes the story of Indonesia's cultural diversity through elements such as the viewing platform, Bhinneka Bridge, Bhinneka Lawn, Moses Deck, Diversity Amphitheater, Memorial Lane and Plaza Titik Nol.
Development and financing
The construction of Plaza Bhinneka Tunggal Ika will start in December 2022 and will be completed in December 2024. This project is part of the development of the National Axis, with a total cost of IDR 680 billion.
Role in investments
Plaza Bhinneka Tunggal Ika also serves as a backdrop for the signing of agreements between the IKN Authority and investors. In March 2025, five investors signed the Land Utilization and Allocation Agreement for Assets Under Control (ADP) at the IKN City Hall, with the square as a backdrop that is considered a beautiful view.
Plaza Bhinneka Tunggal Ika is designed as a public space that reflects the diversity of Indonesian culture and is a focal point in IKN's spatial planning. With a design that prioritises inclusivity and sustainability, this square is expected to become a symbol of unity and a meeting place for the community in the new capital.
