Four Coordinating Ministry (Kemenko) Office complexes are being built in the Core Area of the Government Center (KIPP) of the Indonesian Capital City (IKN), East Kalimantan. These complexes are designed to support the implementation of the duties of the four Coordinating Ministries, namely:
Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs and Investment (Kemenko 1)
Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs (Kemenko 2)
Coordinating Ministry for Politics, Law, and Security (Kemenko 3)
Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Culture (Kemenko 4)
History and Development
Construction of the Coordinating Ministry complexes will begin in December 2022 for Coordinating Ministry 1 and 3, and in January 2023 for Coordinating Ministry 2. This development is part of the basic infrastructure built by the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) to support the relocation of the nation's capital from Jakarta to the IKN Nusantara.
Design and Architecture
The design of the Coordinating Ministry complex adopts the principles of green and smart buildings, with energy and water efficiency, the use of environmentally friendly materials, and a smart building system connected to the internet.
Specifically for Kemenko Building 4, the design is inspired by the hilly land contour, creating a terraced form that blends with the surrounding nature. This building uses low-e glass for energy efficiency and interior materials that prioritize domestic products with natural colors.
Development Stages
The construction of the Kemenko complex is planned to be completed in stages in June 2025. As of April 22, 2025, the construction of the Kemenko complexes 1, 3, and 4 has reached the final stage, while Kemenko 2 is still in the completion process.
Area and Facilities
Each Kemenko complex consists of four functional towers. For example, the Kemenko 1 complex has a capacity for 1,286 people, with supporting facilities such as minimarkets, restaurants, clinics, and banking services.
Contractors and Implementation
The construction of the Coordinating Ministry complex is being carried out by various contractors:
Kemenko 1: PT Wijaya Karya Bangunan Gedung
Kemenko 2: PT Ciriajasa Engineering Consultants
Kemenko 3: PT Virama Karya
Current Status
As of April 2025, the construction of the Coordinating Ministry complex is still ongoing and is targeted for completion in June 2025. These complexes are designed to accommodate a total of 9,465 employees and will be used as a shared office for ministries under the coordination of each Coordinating Ministry.
