The office of the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) is located in the Core Area of the Government Center (KIPP) of the Indonesian Capital City (IKN), East Kalimantan. This building is designed as the main operational center of the PUPR Ministry in supporting infrastructure and housing development in the new capital city of Indonesia.
History and Development
The construction of the PUPR Ministry office began in February 2024. This project includes two main parts, namely Wing 1 and Wing 2. As of May 2025, the physical progress of the construction of the Wing 2 Building and the office area has reached 54.77 percent. This construction is scheduled to be completed on December 17, 2025.
Contractor and Project Value
The construction project of the PUPR Ministry office in IKN is carried out by PT Pembangunan Perumahan (Persero) Tbk (PTPP), a State-Owned Enterprise (BUMN) in the construction and investment sector. The contract value of this project reaches IDR 1.39 trillion.
Design and Architecture
The design of the PUPR Ministry office in IKN prioritizes the principles of sustainability and energy efficiency. The building is designed with a modern and functional concept, adapting to the operational needs of the ministry and the surrounding environmental conditions. One of the prominent architectural features is the “V” shaped concrete column in the Ministerial Building, which is the only one in the IKN area at this time.
Connecting Bridge Wing 1 and Wing 2
As part of the functional and integrative design, there is a connecting bridge between Wing 1 Building and Wing 2 Building. This bridge is designed to facilitate mobility and communication between parts of the building, as well as support the operational efficiency of the ministry.
Facilities and Infrastructure
This office building is planned to have various supporting facilities, including workspaces, meeting rooms, parking areas, and other facilities that support the operational activities of the PUPR Ministry. In addition, the area around the building will also be equipped with supporting infrastructure such as access roads and green open spaces.
Sustainability and Technology
In its construction, the PUPR Ministry office in IKN applies environmentally friendly technology and sustainability principles, such as the use of energy efficient building materials and efficient water management systems. This building is also equipped with the main Green Building (BGH) certification and Smart Building certification, and is targeting Green Building certification.
