The Ministry of State Secretariat (Kemensetneg) building in Nusantara (IKN) is one of the main infrastructures in the relocation of the center of Indonesian government from Jakarta to East Kalimantan. This building is designed to support the operations of the Kemensetneg in serving the President and Vice President and organizing government administration efficiently and modernly.
Strategic Location and Position
The Kemensetneg building is located in the Core Area of the Government Center (KIPP) of the IKN, precisely next to the back of the Garuda Palace, which is the new Presidential Palace. This position places the Kemensetneg building within strategic reach with other government institutions in the IKN.
Functions and Roles of the Ministry of State Secretariat
The Ministry of State Secretariat of the Republic of Indonesia has the main task of providing technical and administrative support to the President and Vice President in running the government. The functions of the Kemensetneg include managing presidential administration, organizing state protocols, managing state archives and documentation, and coordinating other state activities.
Design and construction
The Kemensetneg Building in IKN is designed with a modern architectural concept, carrying the principle of "smart and green building" to support environmental sustainability. The complex consists of three main towers and one mosque, with an initial capacity to accommodate around 1,700 State Civil Apparatus (ASN) in the first phase of a total target of 2,800 people.
Construction Process
PT Waskita Karya (Persero) Tbk was appointed as the main contractor for the construction of this building. In November 2, 2022 the contract signing was carried out. The contract value was IDR 1.35 trillion. The project is built on an area of 50,678 m² and the construction took over two years. The construction of the Kemensetneg Building is part of the first phase of IKN development which began in August 2022. This development also includes supporting infrastructure such as electricity management, drinking water, and sanitation to ensure the comfort of ASN and other residents in IKN.
Integration with the Government Center
The Ministry of State Secretariat building in the IKN is designed to be integrated with other government complexes, including the Garuda Palace and the offices of the coordinating ministries. This integration aims to facilitate coordination between institutions and efficiency in the implementation of government in the archipelago.
The Ministry of State Secretariat building in the capital city of the archipelago is a symbol of the transformation of the Indonesian government towards a new era that is more modern and sustainable. With a futuristic design and facilities that support work efficiency, this building is expected to become a vital administrative activity center in supporting the duties of the presidency and the government as a whole.
