The MBH Reservoir is a retention pond located in the Kawasan Inti Pusat Pemerintahan, or The Core Area of the Government Center. The reservoir is located in the 1A sub-area of the city. The site is located next to the Sumbu Kebangsaan Barat Road, opposite the complex of Kemenko 3 and Kemenko 4 and to the right of the Presidential Palace.

Background and use
In 2022, the construction of this reservoir had started. Nusantara is expected to contain 21 other retention basins in the core area of the government center. There are a number of reasons for building these reservoirs in the new capital. Nusantara was built with the 'Smart Forest City' concept. A Smart Forest City concept is an urban design that prioritizes the integration of urban development with natural ecosystems. The aim is to minimize the environmental impact of urban activities while improving the quality of life of residents by promoting sustainability, technological innovation and a harmonious relationship between nature and urban development. This reservoir contributes to this.
The function of the reservoir
The reservoirs act as a catchment area for rainwater and overflow water. This increases the availability of clean water, which in turn reduces the risk of drought. In addition, the reservoirs can also collect rainwater before it is discharged into rivers or sewers. This ensures that the risk of flooding in the area is reduced. The reservoir also has a positive effect on the temperature. It can help to lower the temperature in the area, creating a cooler environment. All this improves the microclimate. This reservoir also serves as a public recreation area for the people of the city, which in turn has a positive effect on the quality of life.
Smart Water Management System
The reservoirs in Nusantara use a Smart Water Management System. This ensures that the maintenance of green open spaces is carried out by, among other things, automatic irrigation (sprinklers). The system contains multiple sensors that can detect the groundwater levels, temperature, humidity and pH of the soil. In order to maintain the water quality of the reservoir, there is a supporting building that serves as a 'sendiment trap', to control the total amount of sediment that enters the reservoir.
Facilities
The reservoir has a storage capacity of over 66,000 cubic meters. The site also features walking paths, a jogging path, and public spaces. The jogging path, including a wooden bridge, serves as a crossing around the reservoir. Construction of the MBH reservoir began in December 2022 and is scheduled for completion in 2024. The MBH reservoir is named after Mochamad Basuki Hadimuljono, former Minister of Public Works and Housing (PUPR) and head of the IKN Authority.
