The Gunadarma University International Doctoral Program Campus Building is the first university campus development project in the Indonesian Capital City (IKN), East Kalimantan. This campus is designed to organize doctoral programs with international collaboration, especially in the fields of information technology, psychology, and economics. The construction of this campus aims to support the development of human resources in the Kalimantan region and Indonesia in general.
Location and Land Area
This campus is located in the Edutown area, the IKN Core Government Center Area (KIPP), Penajam Paser Utara Regency, East Kalimantan. The campus was built on an area of 2.45 hectares.
History and Development Process
Laying the First Stone
The laying of the first stone (groundbreaking) for the construction of the campus was carried out by President Joko Widodo on June 4, 2024. This event is part of a series of groundbreaking phase VI in IKN.
Investment and Funding
The construction of this campus is funded by Gunadarma University with a total investment of IDR 75 billion.
Design and Architecture
Building Concept
The campus building design has gone through a curation process by the Curator of IKN Development, Ridwan Kamil. This campus is designed with a smart building concept that integrates digital twin technology for real-time monitoring of building parameters and public activities in and around the campus.
Supporting Facilities
This campus will be equipped with sophisticated laboratory facilities, including a High Performance Computing Laboratory equipped with a supercomputer. In addition, there will be a Center of Human and Technology and other facilities that support academic and research activities.
Academic Programs
Doctoral Programs
This campus will organize three main doctoral programs that have been accredited with the predicate "Excellent", namely:
Doctor of Information Technology
Doctor of Psychology
Doctor of Economics
These programs are designed to support the development of competent human resources in their respective fields.
International Collaboration
Gundarma University has collaborated with various universities abroad, including universities in France, Slovakia, and Sweden, to support the implementation of international doctoral programs on this campus.
Current Status
As of May 2025, campus construction is still in its early stages, with a focus on completing basic infrastructure and land preparation. The university is targeting completion of construction according to the predetermined schedule.
