Kampung Kecil Nusantara

Kampung Kecil is a restaurant located in the core government area of the Nusantara Capital City (IKN) in East Kalimantan, Indonesia. It offers traditional Nusantara cuisine and is designed around a rustic, "urban forest" concept intended to evoke a village atmosphere amid IKN's fast-developing surroundings.

Background

The Nusantara branch is the 53rd outlet of the Kampung Kecil restaurant chain and was built by PT Karya BSH Mandiri. Construction began on 21 December 2023, at a time when the site was still forested land. The restaurant was officially inaugurated on the evening of 16 July 2025, in a ceremony attended by the Head of the Nusantara Capital City Authority (OIKN), Basuki Hadimuljono, along with Hariadi, Commissioner of PT Karya BSH Mandiri, who spoke about the restaurant's development during the event.

The opening followed an earlier announcement in February 2025, when OIKN's Deputy for Funding and Investment, Agung Wicaksono, named Kampung Kecil, together with the Qubika Hotel, among the tourism and culinary facilities in IKN that were ready to be officially opened, citing them as signs of growing investor confidence in the new capital.

Concept and Setting

Kampung Kecil is built around an "urban forest" theme, featuring wooden gazebos (saung) set over water and surrounded by greenery, creating a rural, village-like dining atmosphere in contrast to the ongoing construction elsewhere in IKN. The restaurant serves traditional regional Indonesian dishes and promotes itself with the slogan "Rasanya-Nge Raja, Harganya-Nge Rakyat" (roughly, "tastes fit for royalty, priced for the people").

Reception

Since opening, Kampung Kecil has become a popular lunch and dining spot for IKN workers, civil servants, and visiting tourists, and is frequently listed among recommended places to eat in IKN alongside other local venues such as Bakoel Bamboe and Prasmanan Djowo IKN.
