The Deposit Insurance Corporation (LPS) Office in the Indonesian Capital City (IKN) is an office complex that is being built to become the LPS operational center in the new capital city of Indonesia, located in the Central Government Core Area (KIPP), Penajam Paser Utara Regency, East Kalimantan.
Location and Background
The LPS office complex is located in the IKN economic institution zone, adjacent to the offices of Bank Indonesia (BI) and the Financial Services Authority (OJK), forming an ecosystem of state financial institutions in the new capital city.
Groundbreaking and Investment
The groundbreaking for the construction of the LPS office was carried out on January 17, 2024 by President Joko Widodo together with the Chairman of the LPS Board of Commissioners, Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa. The construction of this complex is planned in three stages with a total investment of IDR 841 billion.
Design and Architecture
Design Concept
The LPS office complex is named "Arthadyaksa," which means protector of assets, reflecting the function of LPS as a guarantor of customer deposits. The complex design consists of three buildings: the main building in the middle as the operational center, flanked by two supporting buildings on the left and right sides.
Environmentally Friendly Principles
The complex design adopts a green concept by maximizing natural lighting and cross ventilation for energy efficiency and reducing the impact of global warming.
Construction Progress and Challenges
The construction of the LPS office has undergone adjustments due to the discovery that the initial location was above an inactive fault. This caused a shift in location of about 20 meters and adjustments to the design of the building structure to be earthquake-resistant.
Functions and Roles
The presence of the LPS office in the IKN aims to strengthen the banking and insurance deposit guarantee system in Indonesia, as well as increase public, business actors, and investor confidence in the stability of the national financial system.
Integration with Other Financial Institutions
The LPS office in the IKN is designed to be integrated with the BI and OJK offices in one area, forming a center for state financial institutions in the new capital city.
Current Status
As of May 2025, the construction of the LPS office complex in the IKN is still ongoing, with the target completion of the first phase at the end of 2025.
