PLN Hub is the center of the energy transition and digitalization ecosystem that is being built in the heart of Nusantara (IKN) in East Kalimantan. This development is part of the national strategy to support the use of green energy and the development of digital infrastructure in the IKN.
Development and implementation
The foundation stone for PLN Hub was laid on June 5, 2024 by President Joko Widodo. This project is being implemented by PT PLN (Persero) through its sub-holding company PLN Icon Plus, which is responsible for the development of telecommunications networks and digital infrastructure in the IKN area.
Concept and design
PLN Hub is designed with the concept of "Green, Smart and Beautiful", which integrates the principles of environmental sustainability, technological intelligence and architectural aesthetics. The design of the building was carried out by Indonesia's best architects and uses Building Information Modeling (BIM) technology for efficient and accurate construction.
Strategic Functions and Roles
PLN Hub will function as an electricity and telecommunications hub supporting the new and renewable energy (EBT) ecosystem in IKN. This facility will also be a hub for research and development, business collaboration and education, focused on energy transition and digitalization.
Infrastructure and Technology
PLN Hub will be equipped with advanced infrastructure, including smart grids, fiber-based telecommunications systems and other supporting facilities. This development also includes integration with the Multi Utility Tunnel (MUT) for efficient energy and data distribution.
Support for Green Energy
The development of PLN Hub is in line with the government’s commitment to make IKN a 100% green energy city. This facility will provide stable and reliable electricity supply to support various infrastructures, including the 5G network and the National Data Center.
