Mayapada Hospital Nusantara (MHNS) is a general hospital located in Sub-Planning Area 1B of the Core Government Core Area (KIPP) in the new capital city Nusantara, North Penajam Paser Regency, East Kalimantan, Indonesia. It is the seventh hospital in the Mayapada Healthcare Group network and the first to operate outside Java. The hospital is intended to provide international-standard healthcare services to the public, civil servants, and investors active in Nusantara.
Construction and Inauguration
Construction of MHNS began with a groundbreaking ceremony on 1 November 2023, led by the President of Indonesia, Joko Widodo. The hospital was completed in mid-2024 and officially inaugurated on 11 October 2024.
Environmental Design and Concept
Built on 1.1 hectares of land, MHNS dedicates 20% of its total area to green open space. The hospital adopts a “green hospital” concept through energy-saving systems, natural lighting, wastewater recycling, and the use of environmentally friendly building materials. The landscaping incorporates endemic trees from Kalimantan and Java to support the healing environment for patients.
Facilities and Capacity
The hospital has more than 200 beds, ranging from general wards to VIP rooms. It is equipped with advanced medical facilities and integrated specialist services. Over 200 professional medical staff are available to serve patients, including those covered by Indonesia’s national health insurance programs (BPJS Kesehatan and BPJS Ketenagakerjaan).
International Partnership
MHNS has a strategic partnership with Apollo Hospitals of India to enhance medical service capabilities. This collaboration includes competency training programs for medical staff and expertise exchange with foreign doctors to handle complex cases.
Regulatory Compliance
Construction followed the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Regulation No. 10/2023 on Intelligent Buildings and Ministry of Health guidelines on eco-friendly hospitals. Green Building principles are also embedded in the hospital’s design and operation.
