The Ministry of Health's Vertical Hospital, also known as the Central General Hospital (RSUP) of the Indonesian Capital, is the first government-owned hospital built in the IKN. Located on the west side of Jalan Sumbu Kebangsaan, Penajam Paser Utara Regency, East Kalimantan, the hospital stands on an area of 38,000 square meters. Construction began with the laying of the first stone by President Joko Widodo on December 20, 2023.
Design and Architecture
The hospital was designed by renowned Indonesian architect, Andra Matin. The building consists of two main masses: one 10 stories high and the other 7 stories high, separated by a 15-meter-long garden and lobby to maximize air circulation and natural lighting. The building facade is covered with ironwood lattice, a typical Kalimantan material that is durable and functions to block direct sunlight.
Facilities and Services
The hospital has a capacity of 250 beds divided into various categories, including VVIP, VIP, standard class, isolation, ICU, ICVCU, ICU Isolation, SCU, PICU, NICU, HCU, and Perinatology. Additional facilities include general and executive clinics, general and executive MCU, telemedicine, hybrid operating rooms, hemodialysis, isolation rooms, and medical rehabilitation.
Service Focus
The Ministry of Health's Vertical Hospital is focused on providing specialized health services for heart disease and stroke. Patient handling is carried out with a time-sensitive approach, especially for cases of acute stroke and heart attack, in order to improve treatment outcomes.
Development and Funding
The hospital construction project has an investment value of IDR 550 billion and is being implemented by PT Hutama Karya (Persero).
Operational Status
The Ministry of Health's Vertical Hospital is scheduled to start operating on August 17, 2024, coinciding with Indonesia's Independence Day. In the initial stage, this hospital will be the only health facility owned by the central government in the IKN, complementing three private hospitals that have been built previously: Hermina Hospital, Abdi Waluyo Hospital, and Mayapada Hospital.
