PETA NUSANTARA

Shopping

As Nusantara continues to take shape as Indonesia’s new capital, shopping options in the city are still in their early stages. While large-scale malls and retail complexes are under development, visitors can already find small-scale conveniences and local vendors catering to workers and early residents.

Shopping Today

Currently, shopping in Nusantara is limited to essential services: minimarkets, food stalls, mobile vendors, and construction-side kiosks serve the growing population of civil servants, contractors, and support staff. These temporary retail options are primarily located around the Government Core Area (KIPP). While modest, they provide daily necessities, snacks, beverages, and some local crafts.

Shopping in the Near Future

Nusantara's urban plan includes several high-profile shopping and retail developments that are already underway or in advanced planning

Pakuwon Nusantara Superblock

Pakuwon Jati

One of the largest planned projects is the Pakuwon Nusantara Superblock, developed by Pakuwon Group. This mixed-use development will include a shopping mall, residential towers, hotels, and office spaces. The commercial area is expected to feature national and international brands, dining areas, entertainment zones, and lifestyle retail. Strategically located near Titik Nol, this complex aims to become a central hub for both residents and tourists.

Next to Swissôtel Nusantara tge Nusantara Mall Duty Free is a planned. This will be a duty-free shopping center. This mall is designed as part of an integrated commercial area development that includes retail, hotels, and serviced residences.

Delonix

Delonix is a planned lifestyle and hospitality complex that will include residential towers, a hotel, office spaces, and a commercial area. The project is designed to support both long-term residents and visiting professionals. While still in the early stages of development, Delonix will feature retail outlets on the ground floor, offering food, fashion, and daily essentials. The design emphasizes walkability and integration with Nusantara’s green urban plan.

Nusantara SuperBlock

The Nusantara SuperBlock is a major mixed-use project spanning approximately 7.5 hectares. The plan features a phased development approach: the initial phase includes a sports and community center with facilities like futsal and badminton courts, small retail spaces, and a warehouse park. Construction of the main retail mall and hospitality elements will follow once demand from residents and civil servants supports the investment.

Looking Ahead

While Nusantara is not yet a shopping destination, its masterplan reflects strong future potential. With malls, duty-free zones, and lifestyle centers being prioritized alongside housing and government infrastructure, retail in the capital is set to grow in tandem with its population.

In the meantime, the charm of shopping in Nusantara lies in its informal settings, where workers gather at mobile coffee carts, food stalls serve hearty Indonesian meals, and locals sell basic goods along dusty new roads. It may be humble for now, but it’s a glimpse of a capital city on the rise.
