Presidential Complex (Istana Garuda and Istana Negara)

The centerpiece of IKN’s symbolic architecture is the Presidential Complex, completed in 2024. It comprises two main structures:

  • Istana Garuda (Garuda Palace): Sitting atop a hill and enveloped by a monumental 77‑metre-high Garuda-wing structure spanning 177 metres, this palace dominates the skyline and is one of only two newly constructed presidential palaces in Indonesia since independence
  • Istana Negara (State Palace): Positioned immediately below Istana Garuda.

Together, the buildings occupy a 56-hectare site known as the Nusantara Presidential Complex

Vice Presidential Palace

Adhi Karya

Ground was broken on August 12, 2024, for the Vice Presidential Palace, envisioned as an environmentally friendly structure atop a 14‑hectare complex. The design, called "Huma Betang Umai", draws inspiration from the traditional Dayak longhouse concept and emphasizes smart-tech integration and low‑carbon materials. The first phase, including offices, the palace, and supporting facilities, is expected to be completed in 2025.

The administrative center for the Nusantara Capital Authority (Otorita IKN) is situated in front of the Titik Nol monument. The iconic building adopts a biomimicry concept with a shape resembling a flower bud, symbolizing the beginning of a growing new city. The construction began in 2024 and was finished in the beginning of 2025.

The Bank Indonesia office in Nusantara serves as the central bank’s initial presence in the new capital’s government core area. Its immediate purpose is to provide operational space for national monetary management and currency circulation oversight. The first phase is now complete, enabling staff to occupy the building. The ultimate vision calls for the final structure to resemble a “Garuda bird” in form, echoing Nusantara’s central architectural motif. This is expected to be realized in the upcoming construction phase.
