Nusantara’s vision as a knowledge-based capital is supported by key educational investments. Here are five major projects currently being developed.
Gedung Kampus Program Doktor International Univ. Gunadarma
Gunadarma University is establishing a PhD campus in IKN, launching its international doctoral program in 2024. This partnership with French, Slovak, and Swedish universities spans 2.45 hectares and aims to produce globally competitive research degrees in fields like IT and engineering.
Australian Independent School Nusantara
In September 2024, AIS Indonesia broke ground on a campus in Nusantara’s Government Core Area. Designed to serve preschool through high school students, this fully international-standard school on a 7,900 m² site features classrooms, sports courts, a semi-Olympic pool, and a 250-seat auditorium.
Nusantara Intercultural School (NIS)
Operated by Jakarta Intercultural School, NIS is under construction with a curriculum focus on global competencies. Intended as an anchor for expat families and internationally-minded Indonesians, it reinforces IKN’s long-term learning ecosystem.
Al‑Azhar Summarecon Nusantara Islamic School
On June 4, 2024, President Jokowi led the groundbreaking for Al-Azhar Summarecon Nusantara Islamic School. Covering 2.9 hectares, it will offer classes from elementary to high school, integrating modern school facilities with green, stilt-house-inspired architecture.
Bina Bangsa School Nusantara
Also in mid‑2024, Bina Bangsa School began construction of an international K–12 school and sports center.
